Diesel showcased their Diesel Black Gold Spring/Summer 2015 Menswear show during fashion week in Milan, Italy a couple of days ago and it was filled to the brim with denim. The new collections references are mixed to create a new context; a direct approach to dressing. You can see this working as Diesel melded their core vocabulary, mixing tailoring with sporty tracksuits, denim and corduroy, creating an eclectic mix. In theory these pieces shouldn’t go together, but of course, Diesel Black Gold gives it that edge. Their military jackets were also inspired by an officer’s uniform as well as featuring motorcross style leather jackets too.
Throughout the runway show you can see coats and jackets tailored in cool wool, velvet tuxedo style or micro corduroy fabrications, an indigo denim jacket bonded with leather, tops paired with relaxed fit tracksuit pants and zipped sporty track tops with stripes, layered under narrow shouldered jackets or trench coats. Motorcross style graphics were applied onto leather jackets in tonal white on white or multicolour, while other biker jackets featured graffiti style lettering. Military officer uniforms and their ornamental details were created in cotton twill jackets, embellished with red piping, epaulets and metal buttons in the collection’s palette of navy, khaki and black. Not forgetting the cold dyed to mélange effect, knits and T-shirts as well as the cropped biker boots with buckles that zip at the heel, and other boots crafted from khaki suede with a worn-in finish. Even the Diesel Black Gold sneakers were constructed with leather and suede and were worn as a contrast to tailoring. I can’t help by say this reminds me of Doctor Who and his dress sense!
Moving onto the denim, five pocket denim jeans were given a broken-in wash to their dark indigo, white and black tones. Something that the brand does extremely well and should definitely be commended for! I don’t know anyone that doesn’t think Diesel hits the nail on the head when it comes to washes most of the time. They even featured corduroy pants in black, navy, khaki and white.
If you take a look at the full show gallery at the bottom of this post, you will be able to see that every look featured a pant of some sort, be it denim (which it mostly was) or corduroy. I think it’s a fantastic collection and the styling was incredible! I’ve also included photos of the catwalk and event, backstage looks at the models and even some of the celebs in attendance, including the man himself, Renzo Rosso. You can find out more about Diesel in my history of Diesel Jeans post that I made a couple of weeks ago too. What do you think of the Diesel Black Gold Spring/Summer 2015 menswear show?
