For our Find of the Week this week, I’ve chosen to share with you an elaborate and extravagant piece, one that would more be a coveted denim item for a collector, or one where money is no object. The reason being is because this brand new Gucci Embroidered Denim Jacket costs £4040. It’s an extreme price tag and one of the highest I think I have seen for something commercially available, but when I saw the detailing and embroidery on this Gucci denim jacket, I knew I had to share it.
Alessandro Michele’s influences are still heavily present in the brand new Gucci collection in an inspiring way. The light blue washed denim is encrusted with embroidered flowers and a jacquard panel on the back with animal and floral appliqués, which you can see above. The word ‘Modern’ placed across the front pays homage to the Creative Director’s new approach to fashion, defying the sense of time and trends, while being written in a Gothic inspired font/script.
The individually embroidered appliqués are sewn to the garment by hand, a process that takes hours to complete for each jacket. This is why the price tag of over £4000 comes into play as it’s made in Italy. It also featured a shearling collar and lining so it’s ideal for the winter months when you need to keep warm, but want to look stylish, or for rocking at fashion week in September.
So many celebrities have been a fan of the Gucci embroidered denim jackets, from Kanye West and Rihanna to just about every other fashion blogger going, and they’re still coveted now, a year later, so I’m happy to see new and innovative designs being brought back this season. It’s just incredible to think that all of that work was done by hand, it looks like an artwork masterpiece! What do you think of it?
