AG The Farrah Ankle Skinny Jeans 13 Years Daybreak Destroyed Review

AG The Farrah Ankle Skinny Jeans 13 Years Daybreak Destroyed Review

It’s been a little while since I reviewed jeans for you, mostly due to the fact that I’ve gained weight due to health issues and have been sorting out my sizing. For those of you who followed my reviews for years, my old size of a 26/27 is now a 27/28, so what I say is true to size, that’s relevant to my old size as well if you are the same size as I was. So my review today is on these new AG Jeans that I’ve been wearing for a while and testing out. They’re The Farrah in 13 Years Daybreak Destroyed. When it comes to ankle jeans, pairs like this with the undone hem are really interesting. So lets get to the review!

The Size – I would say these run true to size for AG actually. I’m usually a 27 in the brand, but due to recent weight gain and health issues, I’m more of a size 28 these days and that’s what size I took. They fit comfortably though, which is how I know they’re true to size. So I definitely recommend your normal size in AG as these are wonderful!

The Cut & Fit – They are a cropped high rise skinny jean, as you can see. The rise is 10.25 inches, with an inseam of 28.25 inches, and a leg opening of 8.75 inches (all taken on a size 27).

The rise sits really nicely to hide all muffin tops and keep you secure, and even though the leg opening is super skinny, it does have a raw undone hem, so the length is an issue if you are short. These should be a bit more cropped on me, but they do hit me just below my ankles, which is an ok length as there’s no bunching. So if you do have a shorter inseam, be careful of that. The back pocket placement is also perfect, as it usually is with AG, so they lift and enhance the butt. I find them extremely flattering and feel happy wearing them knowing they look good.

The Wash – Along with the cut, it was the wash that attracted me to the AG Farrah. This is the 13 Years Daybreak Destroyed and I love it! It’s a mid to dark blue with fading and subtle whiskering details, with 2 ripped knees that actually sit on my knees! That’s always a bonus as a lot don’t sit on my actual knees due to my petite legs. There’s some distressed areas by the front pocket and on the back pocket, along with the undone hem, but overall it’s a gorgeous blue that I wear all the time. I’ve worn these jeans 9 times since I got them in October or so.

The Denim – The fabric is made of 98% cotton and 2% polyurethane, which you might think wouldn’t be very stretchy (see this post on denim and its stretch), but because the denim is super thin, it’s very stretchy. I would say these have more of a legging like thinness to them so they’re a great warmer weather jean, and very stretchy/clingy due to the denim being that lightweight. They literally fit like a dream! I can’t fault this fabric and want more of it!

The Details – There’s not many details on these jeans other than the undone hem, ripped knees, and distressed patches. They’re minimal other than that, just featuring the AG signature stitching on the back pockets. All the thread from the signature stitching is tonal though in a blue so there’s no contrasting colours there. The jeans thread elsewhere is a subtle orange, so that’s not in your face either. The rivets and buttons are silver, and the little AG tab on the coin pocket is on all their jeans.

Overall Opinion – I would actually give these jeans a 9.5 out of 10! The only reason they don’t get the extra .5 is because I would like them to be just a bit shorter as I’m shorter, and to keep that pretty undone hem look as you can’t really hem them. The cut is a perfect high rise skinny, the wash is stunning with the distressing, the whiskering, and the blue tone. The sizing is just right, and they’re really flattering, but the best bit is the comfort. I am still reaching for them for comfort purposes even though it’s almost 0 degrees outside! That’s how much I recommend these jeans! What do you think? Have you tried them?
