6 Tips for Looking and Feeling Great in Your Jeans this Winter

While jeans are synonymous with hard work and ruggedness, let’s be honest, they’re not the best at keeping you warm. Yet, they remain a staple in almost everyone’s closet during the cold months and everywhere in-between. If you want to look good while feeling comfortable in your denim this winter, you’ll have to make some adjustments. Thankfully, there are tonnes that you can make that will allow you to elevate your style while avoiding freezing to death.

Let’s take a look at a few tips to look and feel great in your jeans this winter.

Go for a Slightly Looser Cut

We’re not saying you should go for a baggy pair of jeans here. However, you should know that air acts as insulation, so having a little bit of space is actually good. Another benefit of going for a more relaxed cut is that it will allow you to add thermals underneath. These could be a lifesaver for those suffering from heavy winter rash.

Go for Heavier Denim

Another thing you want to do is consider going for a thicker denim than usual. While you may not be crazy about the look, it will be essential if you want to be able to survive strong colds and winds. If you want something that looks good, try to look at smaller independent retailers that work with raw denim. A good thick pair of denim jeans will protect you better against moisture as denim and cotton in general are not known for being the most water-resistant materials.

Go for Winter Denim

You could also take things up a notch and go for jeans made specifically for wintertime. Many of them will have flannel or some sort of insulating material lining them. These will provide you with the additional protection you need to deal with frisky nights, but won’t provide much in terms of wind protection. So, know that you might still need to add another layer under, preferably in a waterproof or moisture-wicking material that can block wind gusts.

Choose the Right Coat(s)

Your coat will also make a world of difference in how good your denim looks. The good news is that denim and winter wear are like a match made in heaven.

You have all sorts of options here. If you want something that will keep you warm, then denim will look great with a parka. If the weather is not as harsh where you are, or you want something that will look stylish and classic, a long duffle or peacoat could be a great option. And, when it comes to these, no one does it better than Burberry. A Burberry peacoat will last a lifetime and will look great from the first time you wear it to the last. If you’re looking for a nice selection of Burberry clothing and coats, we suggest you check out SSENSE. They have one of the most extensive selections of designer clothing by Burberry you’ll find anywhere and have been in the business for decades. They have a strong reputation for selling nothing but quality and are renowned for the quality of their service as well, so you know you’ll be in good hands.

You should also consider adding a lightweight packable down jacket to your collection. These are best for the not-so-cold days. They also have the benefit of allowing you to show off your jeans as they’re not as long. You can go for something a little more colourful here as well. Skip the classics and look at the sun-washed oranges and meridian blues instead.

Go Bright

Speaking of colours, a lot of people will tend to go for darker ones in the winter. Instead, you need to contrast the darkness of the season with light and bright colors. 90’s inspired washes work great for the winter, so don’t be afraid to explore them. Even off-white denim isn’t off-limits if you can pull it off.

Change Your Maintenance Routine

We all know how destructive a washing machine can be on jeans, and many of us decide to wash them as little as possible for that reason. Some would even rather put their jeans in the freezer instead of putting them through a cycle.

But you can’t afford to cut corners in winter. These jeans are going to get wet and grimy, so you’ll need to work on a more extensive maintenance regimen. This means giving them a nice inside out clean from time to time. It is always better to have a pair of slightly deflated jeans than smelly ones.

Winter can be a tough season for fashion, but if you follow these tips, you’ll be able to look your best. Jeans look great all year round – it’s all about taking the proper precautions for staying warm no matter the weather.
