Saving Money When Shopping For Denim Online

When it comes to buying our jeans, we will probably always look for a discount code or think about holding out for a sale, a special discount event, or even buying second hand – I know I do. I’m always looking for a bargain and if there’s a specific pair of jeans I want, I always scout online for the cheapest price or look into buying them from someone individual who’s selling them. With this in mind, I thought I would share my tips and the sites that I know that make this possible. Some of these ways I save money on my denim are:

  • A new place that just opened up is Sello, which is a mobile app that was launched by Shopify (the online shop platform) and it allows you to sell and shop your items through social media channels – which makes so much sense! We spend most of our time on social media anyway and we often want what bloggers are wearing, so knowing that you can buy clothing and jeans this way is actually really cool. That is definitely worth looking into! I saw that it’s made with entrepreneurs in mind so it’s super simple to set up your own shop and buy from others.
  • We all know of the popular re-sale websites like eBay, and that can be amazing for getting an absolute bargain as I know I’ve scored some authentic designer jeans for less than £10 on numerous occasions, but if you’re a seller, it can be a lot more of a hindrance and I often get put off myself from selling my own denim on there due to the hassle. It’s great if you’re a buyer though.
  • We also have Etsy, which is fantastic for vintage items and buying more unique, or handmade pieces from individual sellers, but I often find Etsy to be quite expensive, so I don’t shop there much at all. If you’re specifically looking for something niche though, it’s definitely worth taking a look and seeing what some of the sellers have to offer as it’s worldwide.
  • If that’s not for you though, have you thought about places like The Outnet or Yoox? They sell designer jeans from past seasons at heavily discounted prices too, however they usually have limited stock and it’s mostly the more outlandish or crazy items that nobody bought at full price that make it to these websites. Sometimes you can find a gem though!
  • Another tip I always do is to sign up to newsletters from brand’s as they will often give new customers a discount code, so definitely check for that. You can also often take advantage of their refer a friend schemes and get discounts that way too. Look out for loyalty schemes from websites that reward you with points and vouchers for things you do (Luisaviaroma does this). It’s also worth following brands and stores on social media to be the first to hear about exclusive discounts from them, and keep an eye on voucher websites as they will often list all of the codes, even ones that are not public on a store’s website itself, so you can get discounts that way too.

There’s so many options out there as you can see! I know I did an article before on how to buy designer and premium jeans on a budget, but not everyone here is into premium denim only and likes to wear vintage jeans or Levi’s instead, so I thought I would include some more information here for you on more independent places to shop, and I think Sello is a great one if you love browsing social media anyway.

I always think that shopping from independent retailers is such a good way of saving money though, and helping the environment at the same time, so not only would your bank balance be better off, you are doing good too! Of course there’s going to be a lot of the independent stores that sell new clothes and denim is going to be among that as well, but if you fancy being a bit more eclectic and you have more of a unique sense of style, you might be able to find something that suits that by shopping this way! What are your tips and tricks on saving money when it comes to buying your jeans?

Yeah the only jeans I’m interested in getting were from around 2010 to 2016 so it has to be sourced from sites like ebay. Poshmark is also a good site but a US address is req’d either your own or thru a third party such as a parcel service. These sources can even have jeans in NWT condition price affordably.

That’s useful! Is it easy to make sure they’re authentic on Poshmark?

It’s still generally buyer beware and know what you are trying to buy however I haven’t encountered any authenticity issues myself so I feel confident that I’m dealing with the genuine article on those sites. The sites likely have policies around authenticity. Vendors I’ve dealt with have been very transparent and trustworthy selling legit items and some will honor returns. Poshmark has a category called boutique as an extra measure of confidence in authenticity but you would have to read its definition on their site. There was a pair of 7FAM jeans several years ago on ebay that looked really suspect. Can’t remember exactly what it was but there was something about them that stood out as a knock off.

Thanks for sharing that info! Yeah eBay is filled with fakes, not so much anymore, but it used to be constant. Like 75% fake at one point, so it is always good to know what you’re looking for.

As high as 75% I didn’t know. How long ago was that?

Quite a few years ago actually, but there are still many fakes, just nowhere near as much.

thank you Lorna I tend to stick to the promotional codes. Or I will do a search for sites that offer coupon. There are a lot of coupon sites and some do offer great deals.
