Hi, when you say 15 inch inseam, do you mean knee length shorts?
Who is the author of this blog?

Hi Lorna,
My name is Akash Bhangare; I am an aspiring fashion journalist and a blogger currently studying at Mumbai University. Currently, I am working on my final academic project on “The Current Denim Bottoms Market in the USA”. As a part of this study, I am studying the denim bottoms market in the country with respect to the sales channels and key brands.
I was looking for some sources on the internet, when I bumped into “The Jeans Blog”. I would like to take his opportunity to ask you a few simple questions which will help me complete this exercise. Here is the list of some questions:
1.Which are the highest selling denim jeans brands in the US? What is the approximate market share of these brands? (I know that brands like Levis, Wrangler and Lee occupy a significant market share, It would be great if you can add a few more)
2.Which distribution channels do the brands use for selling denim bottoms in the US? What percentage of sales happens through these channels? (Discount store, Hyper/Supermarket, Dept. store, Specialty store, Online retail, Others)
3.What is the market share of locally manufactured denim bottoms (Made in USA) vs imported?
4.What is the market break-up with respect to product type in denim bottoms (in terms of percentage)? (Jeans, Skirts, shorts, and others)
5.What according to you are the key emerging categories of the denim bottoms in the US?
6.The US denim market is currently following a decreasing trend since 2014. Is there any growth expected in the near future? What can be the expected growth rate (in terms of percentage).

Hi, sorry. As I’m only a denim expert, I don’t know the statistics of sales or the market or anything like that. You might need to reach out to someone who does market research for denim. Good luck!
Lorna I am so thrilled to have found your blog! I am indeed a jeans addict and proud of it! I style every outfit every day around the most important piece : the jeans! I live for denim!

Hi Barbara! I’m so excited to hear that! I’m so passionate about denim as well and every outfit of my own is always centered around my jeans too. What are some of your favourite pairs?
My favorite jeans might surprise you! I actually look best in Levi Strauss Signature and Lee Rider jeans and I’ve literally tried ALL brands at all price points! My current faves are Levi Strauss Signature Curvy Straights in a dark wash with light hand sanding on the front – the rear view is spectacular! My favorite skinnies are Levi Strauss Signature Curvy Skinny in an undistressed dark wash. I also love my Lee Riders slim fit boyfriend jeans which I can wear cuffed OR as ankle-length. They are a looser fit and ridiculously flattering. All of these jeans are under $20 a pair. Crazy, right? I do have a pair of ridiculously pricey AG jeans that I bought while living in Europe. But they’re not as flattering as my less expensive faves! I currently own 40 pairs of jeans which, in terms of jeans addiction, means I need more! My biggest challenge is finding them long enough. I’m 5’8″ and need a 33″ inch inseam…..

That actually does surprise me! I’ve never worn LEE myself, but I hear good things about them. Levi’s seems to be extremely flattering on most people though, but they’re so expensive here in the UK. New pairs cost over £70 each and that’s a base point, a lot of them are over £100, which is madness given how cheap they are in the US. I really like AG Jeans, I find their Legging fit to be quite flattering, but we all have different body shapes, legs, butts etc, so what suits some of us doesn’t look good on others. I’m a short person, so inseams are usually always too long for me, lol!
Hello,
I don’t see Lane Bryant on your lists of brands…but for women (like me) who are on the bigger side, their jeans are wonderful, comfortable, and flattering, and they come in Tall/Long. I am wearing a pair of their Tighter Tummy Technology (size 14 Tall). These jeans are Boot Cut, and have a relatively high waist, which is by far the most comfortable style for me. I love them. But, I’m losing some weight and this company doesn’t make smaller sizes than 14, so I’m stopping by your blog to see what you might come up with.
I also have a pair of skinny jeans…same Tighter Tummy Technology by Lane Bryant. And a pair of Slim Boot Genius Fit by Lane Bryant, and they are not as comfortable on me, with their lower waist style.
I have dependably been an extraordinary aficionado of Denim Jeans. I have been hunting down some decent sites and your blog entry has been the ideal response to every one of my inquiries. Much obliged to you for sharing this remarkable blog entry about Denim
GAP is selling these archive reissue high rise denim shorts. I bought the 27 regular and 27 petite. The 27 petite have the perfect fit. They aren’t loose and more on the tighter side so they are pretty flattering. I am a petite girl so these are great shorts for me. They are on the shorter side though. On the other hand, the 27 regular are a little bit longer and bigger. Because these are 100% cotton denim, my first instinct is to keep the petite and return the regular but I also wonder if the petite size will be too short or if it will expand over time. The regular also fits well but is a little bit bigger. Based on my prior knowledge of 1000% cotton jeans and from reading this article, I want to keep the petite and return the regular but I wanted to hear your thoughts about what size to keep. It’s so hard to decide

Hi, 100% cotton will stretch out so the 27’s you have will get bigger with wear. Maybe if the 27’s in petite have a good fit and the 27’s in regular are loose, you could swap and try a 26 in the regular? They might be better fitted and allow room for stretch? If longer is what you need and feel more comfortable in, I would probably go that route. I’ve got shorts I haven’t worn as I feel they are too short, so definitely don’t make that mistake!
Hi I am trying to find a comparable pair of jeans to Levi 471 which is a high waist (or normal as I like to think of it), slim, bootleg style. However in the second hand market (which is the only place you can buy decent weight, reasonably priced jeans) is running low so I need to find another brand and style which is similar. As I am in the UK I don’t have access to denim stores such as Lee and Wrangler (don’t live in London). Can you recommend any similar styles either vintage or current? thanks PixieUK. Also haven’t had your registration email yet so this may not post 🙂
