Fashion Week, or should I say month, has come and gone, but it’s not entirely over as SIWY recently shared with us their brand new Spring Summer 2017 Runway Show which debuted at LA Fashion Week last week at The Beverly Hilton, rounding out the popular New York, London, Milan, and Paris locations. Have any of you attended LA Fashion Week shows? Since Los Angeles is the home of premium denim, it definitely makes sense for SIWY to showcase there.

So what is the SS17 SIWY collection about? It’s all about the resurrection of the 1980’s! Jimmy Taverniti was inspired by the originality of London street styles during the decade, which lead to him playing around with and recycling the major themes of the 80s to the early 90s to exhibit the trends, but without complex logos and bold colours. Drawing from the diverse and forward trend thinking of London street styles, Taverniti adopted the “best of” street style, mixing in traditional American denim looks. You can expect to find high waists, destroyed denim, bleaching, classic blues, and of course indigo.

All of these styles and techniques used represented the culture of denim as a whole including raw edges, reshaping, re-dyeing, and customization. It is “The Do-It-Yourself way” and words that Jimmy Taverniti lived by. You can see just how cool and inspired this collection is with the images in the gallery below. I love the sportswear inspired themes that everything has been mixed with too, it’s definitely a collection I like! I know SIWY is often available to buy on various retailers, so you might want to check out a few deals and coupons (click here) to see if you can get some of their jeans a lot cheaper!
