FRAME Le Crop Mini Boot Jeans in Stony Creek Review

FRAME Le Crop Mini Boot Jeans in Stony Creek Denim Review

My denim review this week is on the FRAME Le Crop Mini Boot Jeans in Stony Creek, as I’m sure you guessed from the title. I’ve been a fan of the cropped bootcut jeans trend for months now and as it’s one of the most popular styles for celebs and everyone else to wear, I’m late jumping on the bandwagon. Given that I’m quite short, not every denim trend works for me and I’ve been nervous about them overwhelming me or making me look dumpy, so choosing the right pair has been key! I finally got that right though with these, so check out my review below.

Fit – The fit of these jeans is literally what it states – a cropped, mini bootcut. They feature a 9.5 inch rise, an inseam of 27.5 inches and a leg opening of 16.5 inches, all taken from a size 27. As you can see on my frame of 5ft 4 inches tall, they hit me just below my ankle bones, but I imagine they would be a lot more cropped on someone who is taller than I am as I have quite petite legs. The back pocket sizing and placement is also nice, but slightly far apart for me, usually FRAME Denim never fail to impress there!

I wasn’t sure if I would like a cropped bootcut though as it’s a cut I’ve been hesitating over for a long time, due to my height, but I decided to bite the bullet and get them, and I’m so happy that I did. I was worried they would make me look short or be extremely unflattering, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. They’re a welcome break from skinny jeans and I actually find the cropped bootcut to be refreshing and flattering.

Sizing – I took my usual size of a 27 and that’s what I am in most brands, especially FRAME. I would say that these run just a bit bigger than their usual 27 skinny jeans as these are thinner and stretchier. So I recommend your normal size in the Le Crop Mini Boot. I couldn’t have got a better fit.

Wash – The wash is called Stony Creek and it’s what attracted me to the jeans in the first place (other than the cut). It’s a gorgeous mid blue with fading down the thighs and on the butt, authentic looking lap whiskering, and 2 distressed knee holes which almost hit me in the right places. It’s one of those washes that will go with everything and anything, making them extremely versatile and pretty. I love it so much! It’s been hard going choosing a cropped bootcut that I liked the fit on, but one that had an amazing wash to match.

Denim – The jeans are made in the USA from a super stretch fabric blend of 93% cotton, 6% polyester and 1% elastane. Honestly I wouldn’t have thought that polyester was in this denim as there’s no hint of scratchiness or itching, and I would know since I have a sensitivity to polyester. The denim is really lightweight, thin, and extremely stretchy, making it perfect for the warmer weather coming. Usually denim like this (almost jegging like) can look awkward when there’s distressing involved, but the rips on these look just like normal denim and fray just as good too. It’s a very comfortable, all day wearing, type of denim.

Details – FRAME are known for their minimalism, so the only signature detailing they have is their F stitched into the outerseam on the left thigh. The pocket positioning and curvatures of the stitching is very similar to J Brand, but I find the pocket placement different. So since the F is the only detail on these jeans, other than the distressing and orange thread, I can’t say much about them in this section. Which is good as these jeans deserve to just have the focal point all about the wash and cut.

Overall Opinion – For my first venture into cropped bootcut jeans (late I know!), I am happy that it was the FRAME Le Crop Mini Boot in Stony Creek. The rise is perfect, especially for belts, the inseam is just right as it hits my ankles, the flare itself isn’t too wide to be overwhelming or too small to look like it’s a straight leg instead, the back pockets are ok, I love the mid blue wash with the distressing… The only negative I could find would be for the distressing at the knees to hit just a little higher, but that’s purely an issue with me and my short legs, which is not uncommon. I genuinely do love them though and I recommend them to you, especially as today is the last day to get 20% off in the Shopbop sale! Use the code EVENT17 at the checkout!
