Frame Denim Le Skinny de Jeanne in Queensway

I mentioned a few days ago that I would be doing an in depth review of the Frame Denim Le Skinny de Jeanne in Queensway for you after I shared the Frame SS15 New York Fashion Week presentation. I got these jeans a few weeks ago and I hadn’t ever tried Frame before. I must admit that I was a little hesitant about another classic denim brand since we already have numerous ones like J Brand, Koral, Paige etc, but when I got them, I was pleasantly surprised.

They arrived in a gorgeous, yet minimal, white box and they were folded neatly inside with the fabric labels. I thought this was really nice as I like it when brands go that extra mile and have fancy packaging too as it makes you feel like you are getting something special and worth the money. When I pulled the jeans out, I was impressed with the colour of them actually. They looked like a nice deep blue with black undertones. Usually I like my indigo blue jeans to have a sheen to them, but these are very matte and I actually prefer them that way for this jean. You can see the fabric weaves if you look up close and the stitching is perfectly done all over the jean. You can tell these are a premium pair of jeans just by looking at them.

Speaking of the stitching, I found these to be very similar to J Brand in the way that the pocket seams curve and the fly stitching has that little triangle shape at the bottom, but the one thing that sets Frame apart is the little F stitching on the left outserseam of the thigh. This is the brands trademark and signature so you should always be able to tell a pair of Frame jeans from that alone! But the other noticeable differences are of course the button, it’s stamped with Frame across the middle and in a gorgeous gold metal, and the fit. I find these to be absolutely fantastic in the way that they fit me. I couldn’t have asked for a better fitting skinny jean that’s classic and minimal!

The back pockets are shaped perfectly with a slight curve to really enhance and flatter your butt, while they are also the right size to ensure they don’t overwhelm you from behind. This was actually my favourite part of the jeans and you can see what I’m talking about in my modelled photos below! They really do look great from the back, but the rise is also a really classic height too, it’s not too high or too low, it keeps everything hidden and the waistband is cut wide enough to not dig in and give any muffin top. That’s something that I sometimes get in jeans with a smaller waistband. The inseam length is absolutely perfect, as you can see it hits at my ankles (I’m 5ft 5″) and doesn’t bunch at all. They are skinny all the way down and this is exactly what you should look for when buying a classic pair of skinny jeans. Since the wash is dark and the jeans are plain, you want to make sure that you focus on fit and I can guarantee that these have an amazing fit!

The denim itself is a blend of cotton/elastane/polyester and usually having poly in jeans irritates my skin, but you can’t feel it on these as the denim is quite thin and soft. I’m very much used to jeggings at the moment and having super stretch jeans, but it’s nice to find a pair of jeans with a balance in the middle. These have stretch to them and are thin enough to handle a lot of movement and sitting without discomfort, however they still feel like denim and have a structure to them that jeggings just don’t have. So that makes me like these even more! Everything you need for comfort and breathability, but with the structure of denim.

Getting back to the Queensway wash though, like I mentioned above, it’s a very deep indigo rinsed type of blue, very close to looking raw actually, but it doesn’t have a sheen. It’s one of those washes that will go with absolutely everything so they are an all round classic pair of jeans. The usual orange stitching that denim brands use goes really well against the blue actually, contrasting it nicely and standing out. I think this is why they are so flattering because with the stitching being so visible, you can really see the curves and lines of the jeans and the way they sit on your body.

For sizing, I’m usually between a 26 and 27 in premium denim brands and I had heard that Frame runs a little on the smaller side, so I took a size 27 in them and they fit perfectly. I’ve worn these a few times already and they haven’t stretched out or lost any of their shape which is perfect. I recommend that if you are between sizes, go with your bigger size and these should fit you just right. I haven’t tried any of the other washes so I can’t say if they run exactly the same as these, but hopefully they do! This is one thing I love about owning a denim blog, I get to give advice and share denim with you all. They look great on you! I’ve found FRAME to run big on my 5”6 frame. Typically I’m a 28 in premium denim but size 27 is my magic number with Frame. the wash is beauteous too.

Oh that is strange how you’re a smaller size in them! I know all premium denim brands run differently though so I guess it depends entirely on what brand or even the cut of the jean we compare them to. Glad you like them!

You know? I was thinking maybe it’s cause I got a super stretchy style: the Pasadena cropped and the shorts. They have a lot of give and they’re lighter wash. Some brands I’m pushing it to get into a 28 so who knows? šŸ™‚

Oh yeah that would be why, these are more of a standard denim, so they aren’t super stretchy šŸ™‚ I always size down in the super stretch too!
